Dehn's Garden is continually searching for and supporting innovation that reduces our environmental footprint and supports other Minnesota companies. Today all of our clamshell containers are made from Ingeo™ natural plastic. Ingeo™ natural plastic is made from plants, not petroleum resources. Because Dehn's Garden uses Ingeo™ instead of PET and PS (petroleum based plastics) the annual renewable benefits are equivalent to energy savings of 8,500 gallons of gasoline and greenhouse gas savings equivalent to driving a car 179,000 miles^*. Dehn's Garden has partnered with Lindar Corporation, another Minnesota company, to manufacture our Ingeo™ clamshell containers.

What does the number inside the chasing arrows mean for our clamshells?
This number is the Society of Plastic Industry (SPI) resin identification symbol for the type of resin (plastic) the container is made from. In 1987 the SPI identified seven different SPI resin categories. The SPI code seven is categorized as "other" for resins that were not one of the original six and acts as a catch-all category for all plastic including any new plastics. The clamshells that Dehn's Garden use are made from a natural plastic that is in the "7- OTHER" SPI category. The Ingeo™ biopolymer from NatureWorks LLC that is used for the manufacture of our clamshells does not contain Bisphenol - A (BPA).
